Healthy Fast Food Choices

Reviews, links, and resources about healthy fast food choices, fast food, healthy food, and healthy eating.

One of the most common questions I’m asked is, “what should I eat?”

When you don't want to cook and just want something easy, here are. . .

5.1 fast food choices that will keep you on track when you're on the go

1. Wendy’s Mandarin Chicken Salad

Wendy’s Mandarin Chicken Salad is one of the best fast food choices you can make. And it is muy delicioso to top it off.

With mixed greens, chicken, mandarin orange segments, almonds, and 1/2 of the oriental sesame dressing, you'll have a supportive meal that will satisfy your appetite and leave you with plenty of energy for the rest of your day.

Oh yeah, it comes in at just under 4 bucks too.

Wendy's has another three salads that are good - but not as nutritional supportive as the Mandarin Chicken Salad.

2. Burger King Chicken Whopper Jr.

Any grilled chicken sandwich has the potential to be a good meal.

But the Burger King Grilled chicken sandwich actually tastes like it was grilled. I think they may be. The commercials show those burgers being cooked over open flame (truth in advertising? I don’t know =D).

Oh yeah, be sure to order the JUNIOR. "Jr."

The calorie content of this sandwich is just about right to maintain or enter a calorie deficit for most people. At the same time it will give you nice supply of nutrients to satisfy your appetite and belly.

The Jr. has a smaller chicken patty, smaller bun, less mayo, and (unfortunately) less lettuce and tomato than a regular Chicken Whopper.

You can always ask for extra tomato, onion, and lettuce.

Size wise, the Jr. is close to a McDonald’s Chicken McGrill. You can even cut the Jr.’s 350 calories down to 310 (a regular Chicken Whopper has 580) by asking for reduced-fat mayo.

3. THE Burger King BK Veggie Burger

Burger king is known for having one of the fattest, calorie dense menus on the planet. To it's credit, however, they've added some items that are pretty good choices.

The BK Veggie Burger is one of these good choices. It comes in at 330 calories, which is about the lowest calorie content you'll find for any sandwich. With nearly as much protein as a regular burger, only 2 grams of saturated fat, and 4 grams of fiber this sandwich is a great choice.

4. McDonald’s Fruit ’n Yogurt Parfait

On a piping hot day do you really want to go and eat some big greasy burger or fast food combobulation?

The Mickey D's Fruit and Yogurt parfait is the solution to hot day - no time - food choices. For breakfast, lunch, or as a cool mid sized meal it is sure to satisfy your tummy.

With it you get 2/3 a cup of berries, vanilla yogurt, and crunchy granola. A very satisfying mini meal 330 calories (280 if you skip the granola).

Sure it has a bit of sugar which hormonally is responsible for slowing fat loss - but if your daily calorie intake is lower than your calorie output you will burn fat - hormones or not.

Added bonus: you'll also get 30% of your daily supply of calcium and the lowest sodium content of any fast food.

5. Subway’s Low-fat Subs These are my personal favorites because you can customize the heck out of any sandwich as they make it for you.

5.1 Vegetables

You can pretty much put anything on the sandwich that you want. I load these up with EVERY vegetable under the glass.

Put spinach, cucumber, olive, onion, tomato, pepperocinni, and more on yours.

I put so many veggies on mine that the sandwich maker usually has to fold the thing over with his body weight - totally leaning into the thing to get it wrapped and bagged.

These sandwiches come in under 300 calories if you skip the cheese, mayo, and oil.

Pep the thing up with a quick dash of salt and pepper and you have a perfect meal.

So there you have it - 5.1 fast food choices that will keep you on track with your weight loss and body change goals.

Obviously, you don't want to eat fast food everyday but if you are pressed for time - make great choices and create your dream body and life!
